1 hour of work left before weekend is here, yaaay! counting down the minutes with rosé wine and swedish candy, doesn’t get much better than that.

Tuesdays at the movies

Tuesday nights are movie nights, half price at the movies. Both of us are movie junkies so Tuesdays have become our highlight of the week.

Yesterday we went and saw Julie& Julia, and how good is Mery Streep? She’s a real icon and might be the best actress alive, absolutely stunning. Go watch this movie and you will see what I mean. Another movie that we saw a couple of weeks ago was 500 days of Summer, also a great movie and we both totally fell in love with it.

Speaking of movies, looks like Scandinavia is coming to town. The Nordic Film Festival will be held in Sydney 15-20 October and Sweden is represented by a couple of movies, “Everlasting Moments” and “Once in a Lifetime” (Livet är en Schlager). Finland is contributing with a horror movie named “Sauna” and we can’t wait to catch it. Can it get any better?? Finland, saunas, koskenkorva and spanking… It can’t be anything other than a horror flick!

What have we got here if not 2 pretty useless people when it comes to updating the blog..

The roadtrip feels like a long time ago now.. but just to sum up what happened after those horrible bites.. ( which turned out to be bedbugs after all) The Goldcoast was not too charming – but we enjoyed our hotel (and a fair bit of vodka), Noosa on the sunshine coast was very nice & probably one of the highlights of the trip together with Byron Bay. We had a fab weekend in Brisbane where we stayed with my friend Johanna and her boyfriend Dan.Partying & some swimming in the river .. after all , who is worried about sharks& crocs anyway?? Not us vikings !!!

The grandfinale of our roadtrip was our last stop in Newcastle where we caught up with Elins friend Marty and went on a wine , chocolate, champagne and cheese tasting tour in Hunter Valley! A weekend in style!

Back in Manly we spent some more time in a hostel while looking for places to live.. This proved to not be a piece of cake .. but after a few viewings we finally found our new homes. We have now split up, a verrrrrry dramatic break-up.. haha.. not really as we live about 1 km from eachother! Elin is enjoying her stay with a Colombian family + cat (not so much enjoying the cat though) & I have moved in with 2 aussies, 1 englishman + 2 dogs + 1 cat and one bird.

So far so good one could say after only about 1 week of our new lives!Things are going our way at the moment and now with the blog a bit more up to date we can finally start writing more often too. :=)

MIDGES!! that’s what’s been eating us alive for the past couple of days. I told you we’ve been getting strange bites all over our bodies lately. Apparently the area around the Gold Coast is full of these tiny invisible mosquito-like biting parasites and they are driving us up the wall!!!!! The bites itch like crazy and it looks like we both have got the chickenpox. Went to the pharmacy today and got antihistamine for the bites and some kind of jungle spray which we are now covered in from top to toe so hopefully it won’t get any worse than this and we will start feeling better again soon. We’re very low on energy right now due to all the itching and scratching, have to work hard to keep up the spirit.., that AND having to stay at a filthy old hostel in a room that looks like a prison cell, right next to the airport since we couldn’t find room anywhere else doesn’t help our situation at all.

BUT tomorrow is a new day and we are moving to (what we hope will be) a lovely holiday resort apartment about 10 minutes from here towards Surfers Paradise. Soooo looking forward to that. They’ve got a heated swimming pool, sauna, gym and is right next to the beach. Can’t wait to get out of here!

Still having a good time and so looking forward to the weekend – when its possible that we will let loose a bit more with no early start for us the following morning. On Sunday we are leaving town to see what Surfers Paradise and surroundings has got to offer. Its all exciting stuff!

Byron Bay

We’re loving every second of Byron Bay! Right now we’re working up a sweat out on the verandah at the guest house with our laptops. Gonna hit the beach after work and then a bar or two for some drinks. The only down side is that we both have been getting some mystical flea bites today and they seem to get worse by every hour…

and so the journey begins

We packed the car, unpacked the car and packed the car again before we finally left Sydney two days ago. Our first day of driving took us all the way to Bellingen, 600kms north along the coast towards Brisbane. Being Swedish we took for granted that our wireless internet connection would work anywhere in Australia, but it soon dawned on us that this was not the case. Internet connection is not something they can brag about in the little town of Bellingen.

Since internet is something we need to survive we could only spend one night in this beautiful place. Hopefully we will get more time there on our way back to Sydney later on. We made a stop in Coffs Harbour yesterday, but nothing of huge interest to see there except for “the big banana” so we kept going all the way up to Byron Bay where we are located at this very moment. Have found a lovely little guest house where we have decided to stay for the rest of the week, and they have free wireless so we can work from our room, yeeeeeah!! Haven’t have time to explore Byron Bay yet since we arrived in the dark last night, but I’m sure we will have plenty of opportunities for that later. Really looking forward to that! We’ll try to keep you posted.

We have moved out from our old place and are officially homeless in Sydney. The end of an era, and the beginning of a hopefully loooong and fun road trip up the Gold Coast starting this Sunday. But first, we’re house sitting Marys friend’s house in Mona Vale (north of Sydney) taking care of their hot-tempered little dogs (who got really bad snoring habits) while their owners Ruth, Michael and Sophia are away on a well deserved holiday. Nice to have a whole house to ourselves, we are really enjoying it here!

Just arrived back in Sydney after spending 10 awesome days in Los Angeles celebrating my 30th birthday. Went to Las Vegas for a couple of days (hit the jackpot and won 94 cent!!), hung out at the beach in Santa Monica, went shopping, hit a few pubs and just enjoyed doing nothing at all for a few days. Best of all was when I visited my aupair family where I used to live and work 9 years ago, the Vincent’s have a very special place in my heart.

Once I got back to Sydney I was greeted with the most delicious chocolate mud cake anyone’s ever made me before!! mmm soo yummy!!! And I also got the coolest T-shirt from Mary plus birthday gifts that my parents and my sister sent me from Sweden and b-day cards from my granny and my aunt. Thank you so much for all the birthday wishes I got for my 30th birthday, I feel truly blessed having you all in my life!
